Your Cinema, Your Community – getting to know you
Unbelievably, next year, 2018, will mark the 20th anniversary of the Screen Machine service. Our audience survey which we carried out at the end of 2015 told us very clearly (over 1,000 responses!) just how much our audiences value the Screen Machine experience. That evidence was of vital importance when making the case for funding for the major refit of the Screen Machine, which is just about to start at the Toutenkamion factory in France.
We believe we have good links with the communities we serve, through our two long-serving Driver/Operators, Iain and Neil, through our invaluable network of local ushers, and through the more than 250 people who joined our online Audience Panel. But where a conventional cinema only needs to get to know one community, the Screen Machine visits up to 40 different communities in a year!
So, we’re now undertaking a second survey, and this time we want to know more about you—who you are, and what interests you. Once again we’ve teamed up with the Social Value Lab in Glasgow, whose involvement was crucial to the success of our first survey, and as they will manage the survey process, and all we will receive are the final results, you can be assured that your responses will all remain anonymous.
That guarantee of anonymity is important, because you may feel that some of the questions in the survey are rather personal. But it’s very important for our key funder, Creative Scotland, that they are able to gather information on issues of Diversity and Inclusion, to meet their obligations to the Scottish Government. And the same is true for the British Film Institute and the UK Government. So, by completing this form you will help us in making the case to Creative Scotland for continued support, and in turn help Creative Scotland make a stronger case for the inclusive impacts of arts funding.
Having said that, please do not feel obliged to answer every question. It’s important that we get as many responses as possible, to build the most accurate picture of our audiences, so every question you do answer will be useful to us!
Share your views now by following this link. The survey should take no more than 10-15 minutes to complete. Respond before 1 May to enter our free prize draw and you could be one of the lucky recipients of two free tickets to attend a Screen Machine screening later this year.
Thank you for your time and your support, and I hope you’ll continue to enjoy the Screen Machine experience after its break, when the refitted, refurbished cinema takes to the road again this coming June.
