Happy New Year to you all. We hope you had an enjoyable and safe festive period.

Following the Scottish Government’s announcement that mainland Scotland will move into temporary lockdown, Screen Machine will be off the road for the time being. As you may have seen at the end of December, we have already cancelled this month’s tour, and anyone who booked tickets for those screenings should have received a full refund.

While we had planned to start 2021 by bringing films to all of our communities, their safety is our utmost priority. We will continue to monitor the situation as it develops, and will let you know when we plan to return.

Until then, we wish you all the very best and that you stay safe.

Response to First Minister’s Statement

The Scottish Government announcement on March 16 about its roadmap out of lockdown proposed 17 May as the date when cinemas may be able to reopen, which coincides with when they should open in England. We’re therefore planning on the assumption that the Screen Machine will be able to resume touring in that week in May, and as soon as the Scottish Government confirms the date, we’ll be ready to advertise our first dates and locations.

Meanwhile, we hope you’ll enjoy Small Screen Machine, our new video on demand streaming service. Just follow the link at the top of the homepage.
