The Eagle Huntress

U
Mongolian with English narration and subtitles. This spellbinding documentary blends breathtaking wildlife cinematography with an insight into a way of life in one of the most remote parts of the world. The Eagle Huntress is 13 year-old Aisholpan, a determined teenager who will not accept that she is not to learn the ways of the eagle hunters – a skill and tradition that has been handed from father to son, in northwest Mongolia, for generations. With the full support of her family, Aisolphan shows that she can capture and train her own golden eagle. With much disapproval from the Kazakh elders (who try to tell her that she is too weak, she’ll get cold, she should be cooking and cleaning – Aisolphan’s having none of it!) she enters the previously all-male Golden Eagle Festival to pit her own skills against far more experienced hunters. A treat for wildlife lovers and families, The Eagle Huntress is a joyful coming-of-age movie featuring voiceover by Star Wars’ Daisy Ridley. An uplifting story with a charming central character – highly recommended. "This entertaining slice of real-life inspirational adventure should appeal to family audiences" Variety. "a coming-of-age saga, a visual feast and a love story of father and daughter" Wall Street Journal.
