In 1960s Chicago, the Vandals Motorcycle Club spends its time drinking beer and idly brawling, the perfect group for misfits and outcasts to feel purpose and belonging outside of society. Their leader Johnny is the embodiment of rebellion and acts as a father figure to the cool and moody Benny, whose loyalty to the Vandals knows no bounds. Benny catches the eye of Kathy, who is drawn into the life of the motorcycle club.

But as their love grows, changes start to fracture the Vandals. Instead of drinking and biking with camaraderie, they terrorise communities with violence as they get drawn into illegal activities. While Kathy objects to this behaviour, Johnny, drunk on power, expects Benny to toe the line, forcing Benny to choose between the love of his life and the club that has always been his world.

Based on the book by photographer Danny Lyon, this crime drama rolls up its sleeves to take a look beneath the denim and leather of the romanticised life of the American motorcycle club. Jodie Comer, Austin Butler, and Tom Hardy give vivid, outstanding performances that match the stunningly colourful imagery.

“Jodie Comer, Austin Butler and Tom Hardy are magnetic in this power struggle-cum-love triangle” The Guardian

“goes a long way to humanize figures who’ve been long misrepresented on film, while giving audiences privileged access to this inner world” Variety

“its stellar cast ensures a smooth ride as Jeff Nichols offers some insights into the highs and lows of a legendary motorcycle gang” IGN Movies
