Oppenheimer

During World War Two, Lt. General Groves Jr. recruits the genius physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer for America’s secret Manhattan Project. Together, they assemble a team of top scientists with the intention of building a bomb of immense power before the Nazis can achieve the same. When their hard work results in the detonation of the first atomic bomb in July 1945, Oppenheimer’s elation soon dissolves into horror as he realises he has created the means for humanity’s own destruction.

From director Christopher Nolan (Dunkirk, Tenet) comes this epic biographical thriller about the man who helped herald in the Atomic Age. Moving back and forth through time, it examines how the decisions people make in one moment can burden them later in life.

“A masterfully constructed character study from a great director operating on a whole new level” Empire

“Elevated by Cillian Murphy’s exacting performance, Nolan’s biopic on the father of the atomic bomb is majestic and morally complex.” TheWrap

“a kinetic thing of dark, imposing beauty that quakes with the disquieting tremors of a forever rupture in the course of human history.” Associated Press

“a towering achievement” The Observer
