Operation Mincemeat

It’s 1943 and the Allies are preparing to invade Sicily. To fool the Axis powers into thinking Greece is the main target, intelligence officers in London devise a cunning plan: have a body wash ashore on mainland Europe with a briefcase containing faux documents, intending it to fall into Axis hands. For this to work, they must consider every detail and every angle to make this mystery man real and believable, knowing full well that their success, or failure, could decisively shift the war’s momentum.

From the director of Shakespeare in Love, and starring an ensemble cast, this war drama is based on the true story of crafty deception, showing how the smallest details and decisions can produce large results, and save lives.

“Stiff upper lips abound in this stranger-than-fiction tale of second world war espionage, with Firth and Matthew Macfadyen in charge” The Guardian

“if you’re on the hunt for a diverting slice of prestige espionage hokum that comes with a side helping of real history, Operation Mincemeat is a satisfying night at the pictures” Time Out
