National Theatre Live: The Crucible

12A

Lyndsey Turner (Hamlet) directs this contemporary new staging of Arthur Miller’s captivating parable of power and its abuse.

A witch hunt is beginning. Raised to be seen but not heard, a group of young women in late 1690s Salem, Massachusetts suddenly find their words have an almighty power. As a climate of fear, vendetta, and accusation spreads through the community, no one is safe from trial.

Starring Erin Doherty (The Crown) as Abigail Williams and Brendan Cowell (Yerma) as John Proctor, and designed by Tony Award-winner Es Devlin (The Lehman Trilogy), this powerful new imagining of Arthur Miller’s acclaimed play delves into the paranoia and incriminations Miller experienced during the McCarthyism in the US in the 1950s.

Please note this is a recorded screening of the production and not a stream of a live performance.
