Screen Machine is proud to show this anime fantasy adventure from Japan that was nominated for the Oscar for Best Animated Feature. We will be screening the English-dubbed version. In Yokohoma, Japan, four-year-old Kun gets a new baby sister, Mirai. Though welcoming her at first, Kun soon feels neglected and jealous for all the attention his sister receives, and decides to run away from home. He comes across a magical garden that allows him to time travel, meeting younger and older versions of his family, including a teenage Mirai. Together they journey through time, opening up Kun’s views of his life, family, and the world. Rich in lavish and painterly imagery, both parents and kids alike will enjoy and relate to this strong and endearing tale about sibling rivalry and the trials we face growing up. “A heartfelt tale told with insight and charm” Empire “An anime fantasy that bottles the magic of childhood” The Guardian “You’ll be enchanted” Rolling Stone Magazine PG: mild threat, scary scenes
