Tender and semi-autobiographical drama delves into the immigrant experience, following the Yi family as they take root in 1980s America.

Having initially emigrated from South Korea to California, Steve and Monica Yi relocate to Arkansas where they plan to turn a plot of land into a prosperous farm. For Steve, it’s the chance to finally make something of himself, but Monica is unsure. Together, the family adapts to their new surroundings, hoping that this move will allow them to fulfil their own narrative in the American Dream.

Nominated for six Oscars and six BAFTAs. Winner for the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress (Youn).

“the year’s first truly great movie, one we’ll be talking about for some time” The Guardian
“a finely-observed portrait of family relations and rural American values” The Telegraph
“an American immigrant epic which goes otherwise untold” Variety
