Matilda the Musical

PG

Matilda Wormwood is a precocious young girl with a vivid imagination. A keen reader, she is scorned and mistreated by her family for burying her nose in books, believing brainy-ness shouldn’t exist in girls. Out of frustration, Matilda pulls pranks on them to keep herself entertained.

When Matilda enrols into school, her teacher Miss Honey immediately notices her unique potential, but the tyrannical head teacher Miss Trunchbull refuses to move Matilda to an advanced class. Matilda and Miss Honey form a strong bond under Trunchbull’s reign of terror, allowing Matilda to tap into new and unexpected abilities that may help them turn the tables on the cruel head teacher.

Adapted from the lauded stage show by Dennis Kelly and Tim Minchin, and based on Roald Dahl’s classic novel, this musical reimagines this uplifting tale with many of the show’s original songs, as well as a new number or two. An enjoyable film for all ages of the family.

Contains a sequence featuring flashing lights that may affect those susceptible to photosensitive epilepsy.
