It is 1980s Tuscany, and rogue British archaeologist Arthur is desperately searching for something. Using his unique and divine method of detection, he leads a band of tombaroli, aka grave robbers, to steal artefacts from local tombs and sell them on the blanket market. Despite their success, Arthur remains unfulfilled.

His girlfriend Beniamina is also missing, presumed dead. During visits to her mother’s decrepit mansion, Arthur strikes up a connection with the maid, Italia. But Arthur cannot easily let Beniamina go, and he begins to wonder – can he use his otherworldly talent to reach out beyond the mortal realm and find his lost love?

Starring Josh O’Connor, this period comedy-drama is the perfect watch for anyone looking for something bold and different. Writer-director Alice Rohrwacher blends genres together and plays with time, pushing her protagonist down a cryptic and fairy tale-esque rabbit hole.

In English, Portuguese, and Italian with subtitles.

“a beguiling fantasy-comedy of lost love” The Guardian

“Enigmatic, absorbing and so much more alive than any pottery behind glass in a museum, this is an exquisitely crafted, grown-up Indiana Jones steeped in its own distinctive magic.” Empire

“Josh O’Connor excels in this gritty yet poetic Italian-French-Swiss drama.” The Metro
