Barbie

12A

Barbie lives with all the other Barbies in Barbieland, where they enjoy a glamorous pink hued carefree life without any worries. When, most uncharacteristically, Barbie begins to question her mortality, life is turned upside down. The outcast, Weird Barbie, tells her that the answers she seeks lie beyond the border of Barbieland. As Barbie sets out in her car, a Ken sneaks in with her. Together, the two venture out into the real world on a mission of self-discovery.

One of the most anticipated films of the year finally comes to the big screen. Written and directed by Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird, Little Women), and starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, this hilarious comedy takes a sharp and satirical look at gender roles in today’s modern world.

“It’s a riotously entertaining candy-coloured feminist fable that manages simultaneously to celebrate, satirise and deconstruct its happy-plastic subject. Audiences will be delighted.” Mark Kermode, The Observer

“[this] exuberantly eccentric fairy tale has some of the dark, angst-ridden surrealism of Charlie Kaufman and the meticulous eeriness of Stanley Kubrick.” BBC

“Weird and wonderful, it’s one of the funnest and funniest movies ever made” London Evening Standard

“one of the most inventive, immaculately crafted and surprising mainstream films in recent memory” Independent
