We’re delighted that co-director Andy Mackinnon plans to appear at the following screenings of Dùthchas (Home) to introduce the film and be around after for any questions and discussion.

  • Carinish – Thursday 3 November at 5.30pm
  • Liniclate – Saturday 5 November at 5.30pm
  • Daliburgh – Tuesday 8 November at 5.30pm

Featuring previously unseen Kodachrome 8mm archive film of everyday life on the Isle of Berneray in the 60s and 70s, Dùthchas (Home) is a poignant and emotive documentary that explores what it meant – and still means – to people, especially women, to have to leave the island of their birth to get an education, work, and live, and the effect this had on the Gaelic language and culture of the island. This footage is intercut with interviews with people from the island, including some of those filmed back in the 60s and 70s.
