Introduction to HI~Arts' Writing Development programme for the Highlands and Islands
HI~Arts provides a wide range of services to professional and developing writers living and working in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, and when possible all of our services are available in English, Scots and Gaelic.

Full details of these services can be found in these web pages.

In addition, HI~Arts also develops and delivers a range of projects that encourage the development of new writing and community access to creative writing. These include the Embedded Poets Project, and the HI~Arts International Fellowship.

The post of Writing Development Coordinator was established in 2004 in response to the report Writing Development in the Highlands and Islands, and is funded by Scottish Arts Council (SAC) and Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE).
