Screen Machine mobile cinema will return to Oban with film screenings planned between 13 and 17 August. This follows the sad news of the closure of the Oban Phoenix cinema. Screen Machine was a regular visitor to Oban until 2012, when the Oban Phoenix opened.

Simon Drysdale, Interim CEO of Regional Screen Scotland, which operates the Screen Machine said: “Whilst we are dismayed to see the Oban Phoenix close, we hope that we can give cinema-goers in Oban reason for cheer. Without the Oban Phoenix, movie fans in Oban are faced with a long drive to the closest ‘bricks and mortar’ cinema, so we are delighted that the unique nature of the Screen Machine mobile cinema means that the big screen can be brought to Oban on a trial basis. We will keep the frequency and duration of any future visits under consideration”.

We will have screenings between Tuesday 13 and Saturday 17 August. Tickets are on sale now and can be bought online or on the door on the day. If you would like to sign up to receive an e-newsletter tailored to our Oban visits, you can do so at www.screenmachine.co.uk – don’t miss us.
