In our continuing collaboration with Street Level Photoworks, we’re delighted to announce we will start screening their short film Of Mothers and Missiles (8 mins) about the work of artist Gina Lundy. We will start showing this before screenings of Hamnet from our Western Isles visits onwards.
Of Mothers and Missiles
In this digital short, Glasgow based artist Gina Lundy reveals her exploratory practice begun in Benbecula and South Uist in ‘Of Missiles and Missiles’ and her collaborative play work with her children in ‘Head, Hearts, Hands’. In the former she uses material that includes local flora and fauna and archive photographs from the Kildonan Museum, Gina created images using cyanotype, screen printing and laser cut processes, overlain with archive maps and data/knitting patterns. This personal project explores the terrain of early motherhood, the parallels between the visible topography of the island and our physical and psychological boundaries.
The work is produced by Street Level Photoworks through its Culture Collective programme and in an ongoing partnership with Regional Screen Scotland / Screen Machine.
You can learn more about Gina Lundy on her website and Facebook page, and Street Level Photoworks on their website, Instagram, and Facebook page.
