The Fall of Sir Douglas Weatherford

Kenneth McKay entertains tourists to his village of Aberloch with stories of 18th century aristocrat Sir Douglas Weatherford. Kenneth believes Sir Douglas is unjustly omitted from history, and that he is a descendant of the aristocrat. Kenneth’s daughter worries his fixation on Sir Douglas is connected to Kenneth’s wife’s death a few years ago.
When a big budget fantasy TV show starts filming in Aberloch, the influx of its fans threatens to overshadow Sir Douglas’ legacy. Shunned and mocked, Kenneth starts to lose his grip on reality, receding further into the past as he takes desperate measures to ensure his hero isn’t forgotten.
Peter Mullan gives a strong and sympathetic performance as a man trying to hold onto the past in this quirky and off-beat Scottish black comedy-drama.
