Bob Ferguson is a perpetually stoned ex-revolutionary living off the grid with his 16-year-old daughter Willa. Bob has raised Willa by himself after her mother, and fellow revolutionary, Perfidia went on the run. Despite Bob’s paranoia and overprotective approach, Willa has developed an independent and self-reliant spirit, just like her mother.
But the past resurfaces when soldiers under the command of Bob’s nemesis, the violent military officer Colonel Lockjaw, attack their home. Lockjaw believes he is Willa’s biological father, and must eliminate her to pursue his ambitions. With his daughter on the run, Bob must dust himself off and bring his revolutionaries back together to save Willa.
From writer-director Paul Thomas Anderson (There Will Be Blood, Licorice Pizza) comes this dark comedy loosely inspired by the novel Vineland by Thomas Pynchon, full of wild action sequences and entertaining performances from its star-studded cast.
