Made on Our Land – Liniclate

PG
Join curator Shona Thomson for a fascinating look at the rural lives, landscapes and culture of Scotland on the big screen with a unique selection of Scottish and local archive films from the National Library of Scotland Moving Image Archive. As well as national films including a post-war plea to dissuade Highlanders planning to emigrate to the city, the programme features a 1961 BBC documentary recording local community reactions to the then new Royal Artillery Guided Weapons Range as well as extracts from a holidaymaker’s extensive portrait of Benbecula. The screening will be followed by an informal blether with specialists in local history and Scotland’s proud rural cinemagoing heritage. On tour across Scotland, Made on Our Land (http://www.madeonourland.com) is part of the BFI Britain on Film project, making thousands of newly digitised film and TV titles from archives across the UK available to view online: www.bfi.org.uk/britain-on-film..
