John dreams of being a professional goalkeeper. While his first weeks at high school paint a prosperous future, he soon starts exhibiting tics alongside uncontrollable swearing and behaviour. Bullied and ostracised at school, he develops a strained relationship with his parents, culminating in an unsuccessful suicide attempt.
As a young adult, John tries to live a conventional life with his condition, which is called Tourette Syndrome. When colleagues at a new job argue that the problem isn’t John but the world’s lack of understanding, he is encouraged to share his story to raise awareness and help others like him.
This uplifting Scottish biopic tells the inspirational true story of Galashiels local John Davidson and how he became a leading spokesperson for Tourette’s. Featuring a lauded performance by Robert Amarayo, it contains strong, and at times humorous, language throughout.
“a drama with three-dimensional people, facing three-dimensional problems and dealing with them… I absolutely loved it.” Mark Kermoade

“Empathetic, funny and myth-busting” Time Out
