Adam is a screenwriter living a lonely life in London. Though it has been many years since his parents died, he continues to grieve their deaths from a car accident when he was 12.

One night he encounters Harry, a resident in his block of flats who lives a similarly isolated life, and the two forge a connection. After he visits his childhood home, Adam begins to have visions of parents. Through his growing bond with Harry, Adam starts to confront his incomplete relationship with his parents, hoping that he can finally let them go.

Andrew Scott and Paul Mescal give measured but powerful performances in this heartbreaking, gentle romantic drama. Adapted from the novel Strangers by Taichi Yamada, writer-director Andrew Haigh uses fantastical elements to tell a personal and emotional story about love and loss.
