Pupils from secondary schools across Wester Ross and Skye will have chance to visit the Travelling Gallery this week, as the custom-built art gallery in a bus returns for another visit with its latest exhibition from Monday 19th - Friday 23rd May. 

 The gallery, which spent a week visiting primary schools in the area earlier this year, will be showing an international selection of artwork, with exhibits from as far away as Colombia and Australia. All of the works are either portraits or use the human figure.

Pupils will be able to climb aboard the bus to see work by eight artists, including a hypnotic video of a skateboarder beside Bondi Beach by Shaun Gladwell, sculpture by Kenny Hunter, a video by Oscar Munoz which shows the artist painting a self portrait with water which evaporates as he paints, and distinctive bronze figures by Francis Upritchard.

The gallery will also be open to the public after school until about 4.15pm at each venue, everyone welcome.

Friday 23rd May  - Mallaig High School

The gallery's visit to Wester Ross and Skye is part of a fifteen week tour to schools and communities throughout Scotland, and has been supported by the Highland Council.
