The Crafts Council Launch Collaborative Exhibition Scheme
The Crafts Council is delighted to announce the launch of its latest collaborative exhibition scheme, The Fifty: 50 Programme. The Crafts Council wishes to work with selected partners to co-curate and deliver partnership exhibitions. Funds, ideas and resources will be joined and shared equally on a 50:50 basis.

Museum Residency - Contemporary Basketmaking
The Victoria and Albert Museum and the Crafts Council are collaborating on a series of three six month residencies in the Sackler Centre for arts education at the V&A. They are inviting applications from mid-career and established artists and makers working in Contemporary Basketry, or with an interest in working with this discipline. The deadline for applications is 5 December 2008.

Opportunity at Timespan Museum and Gallery
 A curatorial group in association with Timespan Museum and Gallery is commissioning a double sited exhibition of work responding to the local 18 century Ice House. The exhibition is to take place in April and May 2009 and Timespan are looking for applications from artists.

First Jerwood Contemporary Makers Exhibition Visits Scotland
Seven makers, working at different stages of their careers and in a range of craft disciplines, come together for the first Jerwood Contemporary Makers exhibition which opened in Edinburgh  on the 14 November 2008.

The exhibition, which can be seen at the Dovecot from 14 November 2008 until the end of January 2009, is set to challenge and intrigue, showing craft in a new and unexpected way.

Call for Entries from Artists and Makers - Open Exhibition 2009
Visual Arts Scotland are excited to be moving to a new venue for 2009. Submissions are sought from contemporary artists and makers in all fine art, applied art and craft disciplines for the next Annual Open Exhibition which will be held in the City Art Centre from Saturday 31 January to Thursday 19 March 2009.

Grants for Craft Training
The Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST) makes awards ranging from £1,000 to £15,000 to craftsmen and women of all ages to help them further their careers. Since 1991 the Trust has awarded over £1,215,000 to 191 craftspeople aged between 17 and 50 plus for study, training and work experience.

QEST was established in 1990 to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Royal Warrant Holders Association and the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. Scholarships are awarded twice a year. Completed forms for Spring 2009 Scholarships must be received not later than 9 January 2009.

Shape the Future of the Big Lottery Fund
'Big Thinking' is an opportunity to help shape the future of the Big Lottery Fund in Scotland. Over the next few months they will be consulting on a new six-year strategic plan, looking at the overall approach they take and the focus of their work. On Monday 1 December 2008 there will be an event at Inverness Caledonian Stadium for those wanting to contribute to the consultation.

Highland 2007 Legacy Programme - Round 1 Grants Awards Announced
Members of The Highland Council’s Education Culture and Sport Committee have been advised that 53 awards, totalling £388,649, have been approved in the first round of the new Highland 2007 Legacy Programme.

Europe Wide Survey on Education and Design Training
The European Design Training Incubator (EDTI) is a pan-European pilot project, pulling together educational institutions and organisations involved in lifelong learning to share resources and knowledge. Nairnia - Let the Workshops Begin!

Weaving Scholarship - Applications Invited
The Incorporation of Weavers Trades House Glasgow has announced a scholarship specifically for weavers.

This grant could be used to assist the applicant in developing their skills of weaving, to help with a travel sabbatical, or purchase equipment to further their weaving career. The fund will be available early in 2009. The deadline for applications is 31 January 2009.
