Aos to hold Summer Workshops
Aos, the artists and makers group based in Skye & Lochalsh have announced two further events to be held this summer. Firstly a handmade felt workshop in Broadford on the 1st August 2009 and a screenprinting workshop which will be held at Highland Print Studio, Inverness on 28th August 2009.

Veer North to Exhibit in Da Gadderie
Veer North to Exhibit in Da Gadderie A project initiated by Veer North, and launched internationally in 2008, is to come to the Shetland Museum and Archives during July. ‘Crossing Waater’ involves workshops, experimental art labs, and a series of exhibitions that aim to link people and artists across communities in Shetland, Scandinavia and mainland Scotland.

Cromarty plays host to the Eris Quartet

Scottish Government Town Centre Regeneration Fund
The Scottish Government has announced that Scottish Towns affected by the recession are invited to bid for their share of the £60 million Town Centre Regeneration Fund. Organisations that are eligible to apply to the fund include local authorities, Community Planning Partnerships, business Improvement Districts, Town Centre Managers, local Chambers of Commerce, businesses as well as community and voluntary groups.

Musicians Benevolent Fund - Awards for Ensembles and Groups

The Musicians Benevolent Fund (MBF) makes awards to emerging performing groups who are generating a significant impact within their chosen field of music, have a genuine commitment to building a career as a professional group, and who can demonstrate recognised musical excellence. Performing groups in the UK with between 2 and 10 members are eligible to apply for between £500 to £3,000.

Station Community Regeneration Fund
The First Scotrail/Transport Scotland Station Community Regeneration Fund is open to both businesses and community groups. The idea behind the fund is to make use of redundant railway buildings, by turning them into either a business that meets community needs or a community project that contributes to the local community.

Scottish venues through to the National Lottery Awards
The National Lottery Awards are an annual search to find the UK's favourite Lottery-funded projects. Public voting for The National Lottery Awards is now open, with ten projects competing in each category. Three Scottish venues have been nominated for the ‘Best Arts Project’ and one in the ‘Best Heritage’ category.

Anne Brodie & Yael Rosenblut - The Visitors comes to Timespan Chilean video artist Yael Rosenblut and Scottish artist Anne Brodie will be showcasing their photographic and video installation at Timespan Gallery and Ice House on Friday 3rd July 2009 from 7-9pm. This exhibition is the result of a month long residency curated by Timespan's artist in residence, Ruth MacDougall.

The Playwrights' Studio, Scotland is now accepting applications for its 2009/2010 Mentoring Session. The scheme offers new playwrights to be mentored by established playwrights, giving them a chance to improve their writing skills and gain valuable insights into the playwriting process.

Survey explores Scotland's technical theatre skills
A 'Technical Theatre Skill Feasibility Study' has been commissioned by a group of education providers, the Creative and Cultural Skills council and various bodies representing the theatre industry in Scotland. They are hoping to explore the feasibility of a Technical Theatre Skills Academy for Scotland, which would have both academic and industry ownership.

Minister holds progress update on Creative Scotland
On the 23 June 2009, the first in a series of quarterly events was held to update interested parties on Creative Scotland's progress. Culture Minister, Michael Russell, Chair of Creative Scotland, Ewan Brown and Chair of the Joint Board of the Scottish Arts Council and Scottish Screen, Richard Holloway all spoke at the event, which was held at the Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh.
