On Saturday 24th May, Ceòl ’s Craic (Glasgow’s Gaelic night club) will be celebrating the creative heights of Gaelic literature, and the talents of our Gaelic poets, novelists and short story writers. Amongst these Ceol ‘s Craic are delighted to announce guest writers and poets to be attending as Anna Frater, Rody Gorman, Griogair Labhruidh, Martin MacIntyre, Fionnlagh MacLeòid, Aonghas MacNeacail, and Tormod MacGill-Eain. Continuing their commitment to work across Gaelic artforms, Culture & Sport Glasgow are initiating this new pilot Gaelic literary event – Leabhar ‘s Craic, the first all Gaelic literary festival, in partnership with the Gaelic Books Council, with the aim of developing this pilot event into an established date in the Gaelic Arts calendar in the city.
Leabhar ‘s Craic will be a day-long literary festival for all the family, held in Ceol ‘s Craic’s regular home, Centre for Contemporary Arts (CCA). Kids can attend storytelling and art workshops whilst adults take part in creative writing and poetry classes, a panel discussion on Women in Gaelic literature, followed by the launch of Finlay Macleod’s new book and a buffet dinner.
The popular Gaelic club night, Ceol ‘s Craic, will kick off as usual at 8pm but this month with a strong literary flavour and featuring many of the writers from during the day. The highlight of the night will no doubt be the first ever live musical performance of Rody Gorman’s Dylan translations. Rody recently surprised and delighted the Gaelic word with his translations of popular Bob Dylan songs such as Knocking on Heaven’s Door, Carina Carina and All along the watchtower and many more. He will be performing some of his Dylan poetry and a local Glasgow Band will be singing and performing the songs in Gaelic. Alongside Gorman and the Ceol 's Craic poets are a host of musicians such as the hugely popular Griogair Labhruidh. Griogar is a traditional Gaelic singer, piper and composer of both bagpipe music and Gaelic song/poetry, and belongs to a West Highland piping tradition that has been in his family for many generations.

Griogair Labhruidh
Griogair Labhruidh is a traditional Gaelic singer who sings mainly in the style of the Southern Hebrides. He is also piper and composer of both bagpipe music and Gaelic song/poetry and belongs to a West Highland piping tradition that has been in his family for many generations. His technical ability and sensitive arrangements of traditional music on the guitar are also a huge factor in his work.
Rody Gorman
Rody Gorman was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1960 and now lives in the Isle of Skye, Scotland. He has published many poetry collections and has worked as writing fellow at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig in Skye and at University College Cork, and is editor of the annual Irish and Scottish Gaelic poetry anthology An Guth.
He has recently surprised and delighted the Gaelic word with his translations of Bob Dylan songs from Knocking on Heaven’s Door to Carina Carina and She Belongs to Me to All along the watchtower and many more.
