INVERNESS TOWN HOUSE Friday 16th May 2008 at 1.00pm
In aid of Crossroads Care Attendance Scheme
The next concert in the Inverness Arts Forum Lunchtime Concert Series sees a welcome return to the concert platform by Tain soprano Alison Taylor, accompanied by Inverness pianist Sheila Bruce, performing a selection of popular songs from the world of operetta and musical shows.
Regulars will remember Alison Taylor’s first starring role with Inverness Opera Company’s 1978 production of My Fair Lady when she sang the role of Eliza Doolittle. Since then she has enlarged her repertoire singing in a wide selection of shows in the Highlands and with Tain Choral Society and Tain Gaelic Singers.
As a pianist, Sheila Bruce has been a favourite of Inverness audiences for many years and has raised substantial amounts for local charities with her playing. Not only a regular performer at civic functions, Sheila is also the pianist for both Inverness Choral Society and Inverness Opera Company.
The fifty minute programme will include songs by Ivor Novello, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Tchaikovsky, Lehar and Gilbert and Sullivan, as well as piano solos by Edward MacDowell and Charles Williams.
Tickets will be available on the door of the Main Hall of Inverness Town House from 12.30pm on the day at £4, or £3 for concessions.
