Exhibition of New Paintings by Archie Forrest
20 February 2008

An exhibition of paintings by Archie Forrest will run from 8 March till 5 April 2008 at the Scottish Gallery, Edinburgh from 8 March - 5 April 2008.

Archie Forrest is undoubtedly one of Scotland’s leading contemporary painters. He was born in Glasgow in 1950 and studied at Glasgow School of Art between 1969 and 1973 where he later spent seven years as a tutor. In 1985 Archie gave up teaching art to pursue a career as a full time artist and was elected as a member of the Royal Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts in 1988.

Archie Forrest is a perfectionist and is uncompromising in the high standards he sets himself. He works in the Glasgow School/Scottish Colourist tradition with still life, figure and landscape subjects (often France or Italy) of brilliant colour and bravura handling underpinned by fine drawing and sense of form; he is also a sculptor of considerable merit. His paintings are highly sought after and appear in many private and public art collections, including The Duchess of York, BBC, Glasgow Art Club, Ian Jay Associates, One Devonshire Gardens, Royal College of Physicians, Scottish Amicable, National Portrait Gallery and the Scottish Opera.
