The next concert in the Lunchtime Series held in the Main Hall of Inverness Town House will be on Monday 3rd March 2008 at 1:00pm. After growing up in The Highlands, Allan Grant and Stephen Cordiner are returning to Inverness to perform a programme of popular Scottish music.
Allan Grant was born in Inverness and began playing the piano at the age of six. He was awarded a place at the music school of Douglas Academy and went on to study at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, where he graduated in 2007. He has performed at festivals and concert halls throughout Europe, including Celtic Connections in Glasgow. In 2002 he was a member of the inaugural Caledonian Canal Ceilidh Trail. As well as playing the piano, Allan is the violist in the Allegro Quartet.
Stephen Cordiner began playing the violin at the age of ten and gained a scholarship at Gordonstoun School. Under the tuition of Peter Zanre he continued to study both classical and traditional Scottish music. He has won awards across the country at various festivals including the Glenfiddich Fiddle Championships in 2003. He has performed solo music on various occasions on BBC Radio Scotland including a live performance at the 25th anniversary of Robbie Shephards "Take the Floor". In 2004 Stephen graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music and for two years studied with the leader of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra Yuri Torchinski.
Inverness Arts Forum are proud to be presenting Allan Grant and Stephen Cordiner as the latest in the series of lunchtime concerts in Inverness Town House which was started by former Highland Council Arts Officer, Adrian Clark, following the presentation in 2006 to the City of Inverness of the superb Bosendorfer grand piano by Inverness Chamber Music Society. One of the aims of the series is to contribute towards Provost Bob Wynd’s stated wish that more citizens of and visitors to Inverness should be able to enjoy functions in the magnificent atmosphere of Inverness Town House.
