Wildbird will be running an intensive creative weekend workshop from 25-27 January 2008 that aims to rehearse and produce a stunning new piece of contemporary theatre in just one weekend.
Led by director/ writer Chris Lee participants will work from Friday evening through to Sunday evening and perform for the public at 7:00pm on Sunday evening. The weekend will take place in the Warehouse Theatre Lossiemouth, and is open to community actors and performers aged 16+.
Catering is included in the ticket price of £37.50 and the bar will be open nightly for those who wish to unwind and chat after rehearsals. The ideal Christmas present and warmer than a balloon flight!
The piece was short listed for the Arches Award for Stage Directors 2008 and the weekend is an integral and important part of its development towards a full length professional production, reflecting the companies commitment to new work that grows out of the region and connects with its audience through participation.
The drama tells the story of the1953 CIA led Iranian coup, Operation Ajax, when America and Britain worked to overthrow democracy in Iran against the backdrop of the cold war. it’s a fantastic tale of intrigue and betrayal that has to be seen to be believed, and sheds an uncomfortable light on the international political situation in the middle east in 2007.
The production will be a promenade piece that integrates video and sound with the performance and is site specific to the Warehouse Theatre space.
