A musical circus will bring a carnival atmosphere to Ardross Hall on Saturday 28 December 2007 when Orkestra del Sol take to the stage in their snazzy hats, socks and footwear. This lively troupe of 11 musicians went down a storm earlier in the year at the Belladrum festival.
Drawing inspiration from the brass band traditions of Eastern Europe and the rebellious spirit of global street music, the band’s influences range from calypso, and sultry Latin American tunes to polka and ska. Their presence is captivating, their characters enthralling and their music brings to life a performance delivered with humour, exuberance and great energy.
Featuring assorted saxes and clarinets, trumpet, trombone, fiddle, accordion, percussion and a large and battered sousaphone that looks as if it might have been salvaged from the wreck of the Titanic, this exuberantly brassy circus will have the audience clapping, then dancing, virtually from their first thump-and-blare.” Tickets cost £10 and can be booked by telephoning 01349 880591 or visiting
www.thebooth.co.uk . Doors open 8pm for a 9pm start.
This lively event is a fitting end to a busy year for the community run hall which has hosted top quality drama, music and dance events as well as weddings, private parties and various regular sporting and leisure clubs.
