Moray-based pianist and composer Susanne Olbrich received the 3rd prize in the Composers Competition run by EPTA UK (European Piano Teachers Association).
Susanne, who teaches the piano and runs creative music workshops, played her award-winning piano piece "Compassio Tango” at a concert in London where she was presented with her prize. Her music, an homage to tango composer Astor Piazzolla, was described as “a wonderful mix of the delicate and the dramatic ... confident and mature writing, highly enjoyable”. Encouraged by her success, Susanne launched “marama music findhorn” to publish her piano composition as sheet music, with more music and CDs to follow. Copies of “Compassio Tango” are available at the Inverness Music Shop, Church Street, and the Forres Music Centre in High Street.
