Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers make a welcome return to Inverness for two shows on 18 September 2007. They take place in Culloden Academy Theatre, the afternoon one for pupils and the evening one for the general public.
This is an opportunity to experience the thundering and exhilarating rhythms of Taiko in an intimate and entertaining show, and to gain a unique insight into the enthralling world of this ancient art. The show is a powerful fusion of primal rhythm, dance and athleticism to captivate audiences of all ages and backgrounds.
Members of the renowned Mugenkyo Taiko Drummers return to the roots of Taiko Drumming, performing traditional Taiko pieces from Japan and revealing the history and culture of this fascinating folk art in a lively and entertaining concert.
“The Way of the Drum”, which premiered at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2003, has developed into a popular touring production, taking the audience on an exciting, energetic & enjoyable journey that’s not to be missed.
"Not just incredibly skilled musicians, they are also excellent performers: theatrical, humorous and energising." - Edinburgh Evening News
The visit is promoted by Education, Culture & Sport with the support of the Cultural Coordinator programme and the Scottish Arts Council through the National Lottery.
