Tango Siempre are offering an exciting opportunity to take part in the passionate and dynamic music of Tango Argentino at Rogart Hall with a workshop on Monday 16 July 2007, followed by a concert of Tango Argentino.
The workshop will encompass a wide range of approaches, from the early folk-based milongas, through the golden age of tango and the nuevo tango of Astor Piazzolla to Tango Siempre's own compositions, arrangements and commissions and the encounter of tango with contemporary dance music and trip-hop (eg Gotan Project). Please bring an instrument - all instruments (some instruments will be provided!). All ages and abilities welcome.
Following on from the workshop Tango Siempre will be performing a concert of Tango Argentino. Tango Siempre are: Pete Rosser (accordion), Ros Stephen (violin), Jonathan Taylor (piano) and Oli Benson (double bass).
Tango Siempre’s music is passionate, intense, soulful and unique on the British musical scene, breathing new life into nuevo tango with fiery improvisation, sparkling collective interplay and solid grooves. Their repertoire includes the intoxicating rhythms and melodies of 1930’s Buenos Aires, the beautiful nuevo tango of Astor Piazzolla and powerful new works by members of the group.
“…romantic, dramatic and at times tempestuous music… a real feeling of exhilaration… impressively fluent and authentic” - Rob Adams, The Glasgow Herald
“Truly talented… spectacular... completely transfixing” - The Big Issue
“Tango Siempre can do passion, drama, melancholy beauty and sentimentality… they play with a fiery spirit that goes hand in fist with virtuosity and precision. Tango, like God, and like the Devil, is in the details.” – The Guardian.
