Cock-a-hoop at Chatterbox!
21 May 2007

Chatterbox staff were feeling very pleased with themselves on Friday night, 18th May 2007.

They scooped a 'Community Invitation Award' at the second annual Cairngorm & Moray Newsletter and Website Awards Project.

The results were announced at the Awards Dinner at Tomintoul, when the headline award, the Jenkins Marr Shield for 'The 2007 Community Newsletter of the Year in Moray' went to the Grantown & District Times.

Chatterbox was at the event by invitation, and was represented by Jackie Patience, Secretary, Linda Bailey, Advertising Manager, Trevor Powell, Chairman, and Mike Noble, Editor. Of course Chatterbox was an outsider to the area for this event, and it has to be said that the 'Community Invitation Award,'  which it won, looked suspiciously as though it had been invented for the purpose! So while perhaps it would have been disappointing not to have won, it was extremely flattering to receive a very handsome silver quaich trophy in this way. And all the more flattering to be told, in the judges adjudication, "the judges were really bowled over by Chatterbox: if it had been eligible for an award, it would have swept theboard" It is a truly exceptional newsletter which serves the community well.

However, it was not all praise - some good constructive criticism was also handed out and was well received. The editorial team was reminded of the need to make the magazine headlines more stimulating, to encourage readers into the text, and to try to avoid bland introductions. The team members will be studying the criticisms in detail, and will be aiming to make Chatterbox even better!
