Three of the UK’s top jazz instrumentalists will unite to celebrate the music of the great Oscar Peterson in an Eden Court In Exile concert at Inverness Town House on 18 April 2007.

The concert stars the Dave Newton Trio which formed in 2006. The group features Dave Newton, six times winner of Best UK Jazz Pianist award, internationally acclaimed guitarist Nigel Clark and former Ronnie Scott’s double-bass player Paul Morgan.

The trio lovingly recreates the brilliance, drive and virtuosity of the classic Oscar Peterson Trio which dazzled the music world in the 1950s and 60s.

One of the most brilliant pianists in the history of jazz, Peterson has entertained audiences for over 50 years. His prodigious technique and unparalleled swing makes him a master in every style of jazz piano from boogie and stride to bebop and beyond.

At Inverness town House jazz fans can Expect Peterson originals such as the emotionally-charged Hymn To Freedom (composed in support of Dr. Martin Luther King’s Civil Rights movement), as well as his intricate “chamber-jazz” arrangements of famous songs such as “Joyspring”, in addition to breathtaking solo contributions.
