Using a mix of actors and puppets, Puppet State Theatre Company presents a magical, comical, multi-sensory adaptation of Jean Gionoís well-loved story about a shepherd called Elzeard Bouffier who took it upon himself to grow a forest in an area of the French Alps which had previously lain barren. The play is a wonderful parable of life - the tale of a human being who saw a need and decided not to ignore it but to put things right. The drama has a host of simple but effective touches, from the wafting of smells into the audience to the utterly lifelike way in which the puppets are used in the story including a hugely likeable puppet called Dog, who will have the whole audience giggling helplessly within seconds of appearing on stage, just by saying "hello".
“It is very, very rare to find something that appeals as effortlessly to children and adults as this magical show from Edinburgh's Puppet State Theatre Company.” The Scotsman.
The show is part of the Puppet Animation Festival 2007 - see the website www.puppetanimation.org
