Awards are available to assist individual visual artists with the immediate costs involved in creating, presenting and promoting work.
Amounts available: minimum £1,000 – maximum £5,000
The deadlines for applications are 2 April 2007 and 1 October 2007
The Visual Arts Department of the Scottish Arts Council is delighted to announce an increased level of funding for their highly competitive individual awards during the financial year 2007 to 2008. There are two deadlines for projects commencing during this financial year, 2 April 2007 and 1 October 2007 for activity taking place before 31 March 2008. For activity starting after 1 April 2008, the SAC are currently expect a funding deadline of 14 January 2008.
The SAC's Visual Arts Strategy aims to ensure that Scotland continues to be recognised nationally and internationally as a centre of excellence in the visual arts. They aim to support the work of living artists and to encourage excellence and innovation, both in the creation and presentation of work.
Examples of Recent Awards
In the financial year 2006 to 2007, our Creative and Professional Development fund supported visual artists in many aspects of creative and professional development, including research, travel and residencies, materials, technical training and exhibitions costs.
Artist Ilana Halperin received an award to help realise a new series of drawings and photographs for the Sharjah Biennale in April 2007.
Andrew Miller received support to make a large scale sculptural installation for a major solo exhibition at Inverleith House, Edinburgh.
