“From”, as they say, “good bookshops everywhere”,and also from cafés, pubs, craft shops, studios, colleges and libraries from Lerwick to Gatehouse of Fleet, Aberdeen to Stornoway by way of the Central Belt, Knoydart and Skye, Northwords Now has powered its way through four issues since its start in late 2005. Issue 5 comes out mid-March. Its tabloid format and use of newsprint struck some initially as incongruous, but its steadily increasing quality of poetry, stories and articles keeps thousands of readers coming back for more. Spot the latest arresting cover on Issue 5 and enjoy poems and stories by established writers, in English and Gaelic, articles including one of our occasional features called “What made me?”, in which we get to know writers and artists who have returned to, or chosen to live in, the Highlands – or have never left. And watch out for the centre page… All this – and it’s FREE .
