The Scottish Highlands & Islands and Moray Chinese Association (SHIMCA) is proud to present an exciting programme of events to mark the start of the Year of the Boar in the Highland Culture Year 2007.

The funding awarded by Highland 2007 has enabled the SHIMCA to bring a group of Chinese Martial Art and Acrobatic Artists from Mainland China to perform in the Highlands.

On Saturday 17th February at 2pm they will perform a Lion Dance in Falcon Square . A similar event last year proved a real crowd puller.

At 6pm on Saturday 17th February and 2pm on Sunday 18th February they will perform a 2 hour family show at Inverness Culloden Academy. This will consist of a Lion Dance performed by Shao Lin Monks followed by breathtaking performances of Chinese Acrobatics, Shao Lin Boxing and Qigong. There will also be Chinese Folk songs and traditional Folk dances.

SHIMCA has also arranged Chinese Music and Calligraphy Workshops for schools in Inverness High School and Cauldeen Primary Schools. Pupils will have the rare opportunity for school pupils to take part in a workshop with Chinese musicians and a calligrapher from Mainland China.
