Wanted – New non-fiction book proposals
HI~Arts, in association with Jenny Brown Associates, Literary Agents, Edinburgh, are inviting authors of general non-fiction living and working in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, to submit new proposals for non-fiction books for consideration by literary agents, Jenny Brown Associates.
Authors are invited to submit a synopsis of an original, unpublished work, a work in progress - or even the descriptor of an idea you would like to try and develop – along with a current CV.
All submissions / ideas will be considered by Jenny Brown Associates, and the authors of the most promising work / ideas, and/ or those with market potential, will be invited to meet and discuss their work with Jenny Brown with a view to potential representation, as part of the HI~Arts Masterclass 2007, in Cromarty on 27/28 March 2007. Please note – alternative arrangements may be possible for writers living on the islands, or in very remote areas.
HI~Arts Writing Development Coordinator, Peter Urpeth, said:
"Non-fiction is currently enjoying something of a boom in Scottish publishing and agents and publishers are keen to acquire new titles. The Highlands and Islands is home to some of the finest authors of non-fiction in Scotland, producing work of very considerable appeal on a wide-range of themes, from history, sport, culture and biography to more specialised education, art and craft titles, and I'm sure that there are many more excellent and as yet unpublished titles waiting to be discovered.
