Outspoken Comedienne Brings Darkly Funny Show to Inverness
22 December 2006

AN EDEN COURT IN EXILE EVENT
JANEY GODLEY IN
GOOD GODLEY!
FRIDAY 19 JANUARY 2007 8.00PM
AT THE CROWN COURT HOTEL, INVERNESS

Famously outspoken stand-up Janey Godley is to play an Eden Court In Exile show at Inverness’s Crown Court Hotel.

Recently nominated for Scotswoman Of The Year by Glasgow’s Evening Times, Janey is a comedienne, best selling writer and raconteur. Her act is darkly funny and very candid, drawing upon her extraordinary, life story.

Janey has taken her stand-up shows Good Godley! and Janey Godley Is Innocent from the Edinburgh Fringe to London's West End. She appeared in her own one-woman play The Point of Yes to critical acclaim in the West End and has performed her shows to long-term prisoners in Scottish jails.

Janey writes an award-winning online blog, has written for a number of print publications. She is a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4's Loose Ends and also appeared on the daily Channel 4/E4 reality show Kings of Comedy.

In 2005, her non-humorous autobiography Handstands in the Dark was published. The book tells the story of her tough pre-showbiz life, including the period when she married into a Glasgow gangster family. Handstands In The Dark became a number 3 bestseller in Scotland and was voted a "Best Read of 2005" by listeners of BBC Radio 4's Open Book series.

In August 2006, she performed three separate 60-minute shows every day at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival: The Point of Yes, Janey Godley's Blog - Live!. and Square Street a controversial comedy sketch show performed and written with her daughter Ashley Storrie. All three shows received 4-star reviews.

In the same year she also won the Spirit Of The Festival Award at the New Zealand International Comedy festival, and made a memorable appearance on Children In Need covering a Proclaimers’ classic with singing partner
Craig Hill.
