The Holloways return to The Ironworks
22 December 2006

The four young charmers from North London The Holloways return due to public demand to The Ironworks on Febuary 28th 2007 after their ultra successful support slot for Babyshambles at The Ironworks.

Having built up a huge and loyal following over the course of last year, the band released their first two singles ‘Generator’ and ‘Happiness and Penniless’ on their own label ‘Sensible Records’. Both received an incredible response: romping to victory on Radio 1 Zane Lowe’s ‘Fresh Meat’, ‘Rebel Play List’ winners on Lamacq BBC 6 Music (twice), plus two John Kennedy XFM sessions.

Signing to TVT Records the band released the single ‘Two Left Feet’ produced by Langer & Winstanley (Elvis Costello, Dexy's Midnight Runners, Madness, Blur) the song (a paean to young love) is built around a typically inspired duel guitar and fiddle riff and accompanied by some lovely Dylan like harmonica. Alfie Jackson sings of being drunk and lonely and that overwhelming late night yearning for someone to bring a little joy into your life.

Even the stoniest of hearts and the longest of faces will struggle not to be lifted by the sheer joyous nature of The Holloways. Their brilliant, self deprecating lyrics such as, “I can’t really dance, but baby won’t you dance with me?” are the kind of hopelessly romantic statement that epitomises what makes the band so appealing to so many people.

Debut album 'So This Is Great Britain' combines punky ska numbers with Levellers-esque fiddle flourishes showcasing a thrilling snapshot of the past two decades of indie music which was described as "The most informed, ecastic and goddarn best guitar-pop album of 2006" in an 8 out of 10 review by the NME.

A spokesman for The Ironworks said "The Holloways played a major contribution to the amazing night we had with Babyshambles since then we have been inondated with requests for their return and we are delighted for them to finish their headline UK tour at The Ironworks".

Tickets are priced at £8.00 and are available from www.ironworksvenue.com  or box office 0871 7894 173
