The Watermill Gallery, one of the UK’s best-kept art secrets, is hosting an exceptional Christmas exhibition this year, with original work for sale by some of the best-known international figures in modern art. From Picasso to Warhol, and Moore to Hepworth, this Perthshire gallery will have one of the most exciting collections of modern art for sale anywhere in the UK this Christmas.

Two ceramic works by Picasso, lithographs by Matisse and Miro, a screenprint by Warhol, and works by popular British artists Patrick Heron, Bridget Riley, Barbara Hepworth, Patrick Caulfield and Barbara Rae will feature in the Watermill’s ‘ModernPrintMasters’ show, which opens on Friday 10th November with an exclusive Private View event. It builds on the huge success of last year’s Christmas show, and a programme of solo exhibitions that have run throughout the year at the gallery, featuring work by some of the most interesting modern artists and photographers in the UK, both new and established.

Alongside these giants of modern art, gallery owners Kevin and Jayne Ramage have selected for ‘ModernPrintMasters’ some works by influential international artists such as Tapies, Francis, Zao Wou-Ki and Vasarely.

Kevin Ramage says:

‘Our print exhibition last Christmas drew widespread acclaim that such a selection and calibre of work, normally the preserve of the big cities, would be on show in a small Highland town.

This year the exhibition has been developed with a strong international flavour. We have had the opportunity over the last few years to visit galleries in Spain, Italy, France and the USA, where we have come across artists whose work we may not have noticed in the same way at home. For example, on one walking holiday in Mallorca, in the small town we were staying, we were astonished to stumble across a magnificent exhibition of prints by Miro and ceramics by Picasso.

We hope that, even in a small way, this exhibition might introduce visitors to different artists. We would like to give the community of Aberfeldy and its visitors the opportunity to see works by artists that they normally could only see abroad or in Tate Modern, for instance.’
