The final details and full programme for this years ‘Peerie Willie Johnson – Shetland Guitar Festival’ has now been confirmed.

FRIDAY 3RD NOVEMBER

19.30 FESTIVAL OPENING / OPENING CONCERT – CLICKIMIN CENTRE BOWLS HALL - DUCK BAKER (USA) & TONY MCMANUS (SCOTLAND / CANADA)

SATURDAY 4TH NOVEMBER

11.30 – 14.00 - WORKSHOP - ISLESBURGH HOUSE - ROOM 10 - “A MUSICAL AUDIENCE WITH DUCK BAKER AND TONY MCMANUS…..”

14.30 – 16.30 - WORKSHOP – ISLESBURGH HOUSE – ROOM 10 “THE PRODIGAL RETURNS”……..A WORKSHOP WITH IAN BAIRNSON (PILOT & ALAN PARSONS PROJECT)

19.30 CONCERT – MID YELL HALL, YELL – DUCK BAKER & TONY MCMANUS

19.30 CONCERT – CLICKIMIN CENTRE BOWLS HALL – TERJE RYPDAL & KETIL BJORNSTAD (NORWAY) / NIGEL CLARK TRIO (SCOTLAND)

SUNDAY 5TH NOVEMBER

12.00 – 14.00 WORKSHOP – ISLESBURGH ROOM 10 – “SPANISH FLAMENCO GUITAR” - JUAN MARTIN

14.30 – 16.30 WORKSHOP – ISLESBURGH ROOM 10 – IAN BAIRNSON

17.00 – 18.30 – WORKSHOP – LERWICK BOATING CLUB – SHETLAND GUITAR ACCOMPANIMENT ‘PEERIE WILLIE STYLE’ – BRIAN NICOLSON & ALAN SCOLLAY.

19.30 CLOSING CONCERT – ‘GUITAR TITANS’ MARTIN TAYLOR MBE (SCOTLAND) & NEIL STACEY (ENGLAND) / JUAN MARTIN (SPAIN)

A Guitar Festival Club will run in Lerwick Boating Club on all three evenings from 10pm and entry will be free of charge for anyone holding a ticket for any of the weekend events.

Anyone wishing to book a place on any of the workshops should do so asap by phoning Shetland Arts on (01595) 694001. Places are limited so it is advised to book early to avoid missing out.

Tickets for the concerts will go on sale from Islesburgh Community Centre on Friday 13th October and there will be special discount rates for anyone who purchases a full ‘weekender’ ticket.
