Fortrose Community Theatre is set to welcome John Laurie, Frazer & I, a one man play telling the story of the late, Scottish Dad’s Army actor on 1 September 2006.
Starring Ian Watt, John Laurie, Frazer & I is a funny, poignant and fascinating play which gives us an insight into the great actor, still affectionately remembered as Frazer, Dad’s Army’s doom-laden Scotsman.
John Laurie, Frazer & I is a fine tribute to this great man’s life and true acting talent and has already been a big hit at the Edinburgh Festival.
Praise for the show:
No Dad’s Army fan should miss this amazing show. Jimmy Perry, creator of Dad’s Army

John Laurie was the son of a mill worker, who abandoned a career in architecture to serve in World War One. After the war he trained to become an actor at the Central School Of Speech and Drama in London and first acted on stage in 1921.
A prolific Shakespearian actor, Laurie played Hamlet, Richard III and Macbeth and starred in all three of his friend Laurence Olivier’s Shakespeare films. He would eventually amass nearly 120 screen roles in films including Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps and Disney's Treasure Island.
Laurie is still best known for playing Private Frazer in the hugely popular BBC sitcom Dad’s Army, which ran between 1968 and 1977, and has been regularly repeated ever since.
