Eden Court in Exile presents Chris and Thomas at the Swallow Crown Court Hotel, Inverness on Wednesday 9 August at 8pm.
LA based acoustic duo Chris and Thomas will bring their acclaimed Americana sound and unique performance style to The Swallow Crown Court Hotel in early August.
When performing live the duo gather around a single condenser microphone and harmonise in the style of vintage country acts like the Carter Family.
Their music blends American roots instrumentation and soothing vocal harmonies, echoing the likes of Simon & Garfunkel, Bob Dylan, Nick Drake John Martyn and the late-era Beatles.
Residents of Los Angeles since 2003, they are an acclaimed fixture of the city’s live music scene. Their song Take These Thoughts recently won Best Song in the Americana category at the Independent Music Awards 2006, after being judged by a panel including Norah Jones, Bill Wyman and Melissa Etheridge.
This summer they will release their debut album, Land Of Sea, recorded with producer/engineer Mark Howard who has worked with Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, U2, REM and Emmylou Harris.
Chris and Thomas first met when they found themselves amongst 40 musicians from around the world chosen to study at the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts, which was founded in 1995 by Sir Paul McCartney.
Whilst studying, they collaborated on their own successful cooking show ‘Cook Au Van’, transforming an old gas-board van into a top class restaurant and a fine art gallery, which welcomed famous guests including the KLF’s Bill Drummond and Pulp’s Jarvis Cocker.
