Outrageous play summons ghost of US comic Bill Hicks to the Spectrum Centre
20 June 2006

Inverness’s Spectrum centre will soon be visited by the ghostly apparition of the late great US stand-up Bill Hicks in the award winning play Bill Hicks: A Slight Return on Thursday 29 June 2006 at 8pm.

Already a hit at The Edinburgh Festival, the play stars Chas. Early as the much missed comedian who remains a particular favourite of many rock musicians.

In Bill Hicks: A Slight Return Hicks returns from the dead for one more show and gives us an insight into the war on terror, illegal substances and what the Bush family has done for his favourite industry…….

Containing strong language and sexual references the play is strictly over 16’s only.

Praise for Bill Hicks: A Slight Return:

Slight Return is a triumph of mimicry, research and writing. The Independent

It is unimaginably brilliant. The Scotsman

Astonishingly good. The Stage

Bill Hicks: A Slight Return has no connection with Bill Hicks' family or his estate.

Bill Hicks was one of the most acclaimed stand-ups on the American comedy circuit during the 1980s and 1990s. His material, which often covered such topics as sex, drugs, pornography, religion and media censorship, proved too controversial for mainstream acceptance in his homeland, but Hicks attracted a large fanbase in the UK after appearing in several Channel 4 specials. Hicks died of pancreatic cancer in 1994 aged only 33 but his cult status has grown steadily since. He remains a favourite performer for many rock acts including Radiohead, Tool, The Super Furry Animals and The Bluetones.
