World Class Saxophonist Blows Into The Beaufort

Eden Court in Exile presents Paul Towndrow Quartet at the Beaufort Hotel in Inverness on Friday 23 June 2006 at 8pm.  World class Scottish saxophonist Paul Towndrow is visiting Inverness’s Beaufort Hotel for an Eden Court In Exile concert.

Paul has entertained Eden Court audiences on many occasions as a member of the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra.

A highly talented player he was twice a finalist at the World Saxophone Competition and won the Audience Prize at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2003.

Now Paul appears with his own quartet featuring Steve Hamilton (piano), Mike Janisch (bass) and Alyn Cosker (drums). Their melodic music focuses on spontaneous interplay and thrilling group dynamics. Jazz fans can expect a mix of original compositions and standards with a twist.

As well as being a graduate of The National Jazz Institute of Scotland and The University of Strathclyde, Paul studied for a year at the world famous Berklee College of Music in Boston; USA having won an international scholarship.

He currently leads The Paul Towndrow Quartet and Paul Towndrow Trio, is a member of The Scottish National Jazz Orchestra and has also performed with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.

Paul recently toured with sensational US group The Bad Plus, playing the music of Ornette Coleman and has appeared with pop group, Hue and Cry.

He released his CD, Colours on FMR Records in 2003 and a second CD, Out Of Town on Keywork Records in 2005.
