13 June 2006
This year the Hoy Trust is sponsoring an exhibition of work by Hoy artists and craftspeople at the Pickaquoy Centre, to run during the St Magnus Festival and then continue through to 10 July 2006, with the aim of promoting and raising awareness of the talent that exists on the island.
The work will be exhibited on the main first-floor walkway and all items will be for sale. As the prices will not include a commission element, it will be an opportunity to acquire original pieces at reasonable cost. The work can be viewed at the Pickaquoy Centre¹s usual opening times and during festival events.
The seven artists selected to show in the exhibition are: Leslye Budge: atmospheric landscape studies; Jude Callister: unique knitwear designs; Tessa Charles: lino prints on local themes; Stephen J. Seymour Clancy: iconic Orkney themes; Anna Gerdes: studies with found objects; Judith Hudson: bird studies; Chloë Jowett: studies of stone within landscape.
