NToS in Moray presents Crucible 2
08 June 2006

Crucible 2 is the final event of the National Theatre of Scotland and TAG Theatre Company Crucible Project with Moray Council. This production will give an opportunity for audiences in Moray to see the talents of the whole community cast, including those who didn't appear in the highly successful TAG production of The Crucible which played to packed houses at the Univeral Hall, Findhorn at the end of April.

In this cut down version of Arthur Miller's evocative play, the themes of revenge and social breakdown are played out in an almost Stalinist setting. Through an imaginative use of video, music and a re-interpretation of the play’s 17th century setting, Crucible 2 offers a version of the play in which God, the Devil, and witchcraft, are more than a political metaphor, but a fact of life.

Set in a closed agricultural community, bowed beneath the iron rod of religious fundamentalism, a group of teenage girls caught dancing in the forest turn on the adults in their community, using their supposed innocence and purity as a deadly weapon of revenge.

Performances take place at 7pm in Lossiemouth High School on Friday 16th and Saturday 17th June. Tickets are £5, £3 concession and are available from Lossiemouth Community Centre 01343 557148
